Making Music 4 Fun Classes . . . for the whole family

Our Making Music 4 Fun classes offer a whole family musical experience because we strongly believe that mixed-age groups best support the early development of natural, family style learning and nurture family relationships.

In addition, research has shown that:

  • Children learn essential social skills experientially & by observation to a greater extent in mixed-age groups than in single-age groups - giving help and sharing are more frequent, turn taking smoother, and greater social responsibility & sensitivity are shown to others

  • Children of the same age are not necessarily at the same stage of social, emotional, physical, intellectual or musical development so within a mixed-age setting children of all abilities have greater freedom to develop at their own rate

  • Younger children love watching older children & can learn by imitating them

  • Older children can experience feelings of enhanced self esteem from leading & role modelling for younger children

  • Children delight in expressing themselves freely, and each child’s individuality  & contribution can be validated in such a non-competitive environment

  • For very young infants, their participation may seem passive at first, but within a multi-age setting you will learn to recognise your baby’s musical responses and observe that they are actively absorbing their environment and what they hear, see & feel around them.
